We carry every variety of Mettler , Gutermann , Sulky , and YLI threads. We're especially featuring Mettler's Metrosene silk-finish cotton and 60/2 embroidery threads, and YLI's Fine Metallic , Wooly Nylon , and Wooly Nylon Extra threads.

These are the most popular for quality home sewing, because the thread quality is the highest available and the color selection is unbeatable. For all other threads, just tell us what you want, and we can usually get it for you the same day you order.

For convenience in sewing large projects or for carrying to classes, we have pre-wound bobbins from YLI and Superior threads.

We also have YLI water-soluble basting thread, which can be used for basting, and also for easy machine trapunto. And we have YLI's Wooly Nylon and Wooly Nylon Extra for sergers.

For a special touch, we offer Glissen Gloss Prizm Hologram thread, which adds dancing highlights to appliqué, embroidery, quilting, and topstitching. And ribbon floss, which is also used to add a decorative touch to embroidery, quilting, and topstitching.

For needlework, we offer DMC and Anchor pearl cotton in 4 weights, in skeins or balls.

We try very hard to show you the threads on the screen in their proper colors, but colors shown as dots of light can never look exactly like the real colors in cotton or rayon. Also, MacIntosh and PC screens tend to show colors slightly differently.

How to choose thread

For general sewing on cotton fabrics, we recommend Mettler 's #50 Metrosene silk-finish thread. Cotton threads will protect your cotton projects because the threads will not be stronger than the fabric, and therefore they won't cut through the fabric at the seams when handled. They are also kinder to your sewing machine because they will break before they bend a valuable part. Metrosene thread has a low amount of the fuzz that can gum up your sewing machine's works.

For hand quilting, a popular choice is Mettler's hand quilting thread. It's waxed so it won't knot, and it has a polyester core for superior strength and break resistance.

For hand applique, the best choice is Mettler's #60 cotton embroidery thread. Because it's so fine, it becomes invisible when sewn.

For machine embroidery, we recommend Sulky threads. Here you have more choices depending on the project. The general-purpose thread is the 40-weight rayon. It comes in hundreds of colors, looks gorgeous, and doesn't cost a lot. For a denser fill, the 30-weight rayon is a good choice. It costs a little more, but it will save time and can give a better result with pre-programmed motifs. For natural objects like flowers and animals, you'll like the Ultra-Twist. These are threads with 2 colors twisted together, giving a more realistic coloring. And finally, for pizzazz, nothing beats the Sulky Metallics.
