vertpurp.jpg (3421 bytes) Ordering Information

The easiest way to order is by using your VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card on our shopping cart and our secure server. A secure server means that your personal information is completely safe and is never seen by human eyes. This is truly a safe way to shop, despite media hype about the dangers of the Internet. We guarantee your card's safety. Most browsers will tell you that you're entering a secure area when you check out at our site. (You may see a little picture of a padlock at the bottom of your screen.) That's your assurance that nobody can get access to your information. See additional hints on using the shopping cart below.

However, we recognize that many people are nervous about shopping online, and so we are happy to take your credit card information any way you want to give it to us. You can call us toll-free at 888-204-4050. You can also give us your entire order over the phone. This is less convenient, because then you have to write down all the details of your order to give them to us, but it does have the advantage that you can check if the items are in stock, ask if that pink fabric is really as pale as it looks in the picture, etc. There is a $4 telephone order charge. If you don't want to pay the phone charge, but don't want to put your credit card number on the internet, just call us with your card info, and then you can use the shopping cart to order. Choose the "I will call with my credit card" option.

You can also fax your order to us at 303-838-7779. You'll have to pay for the call, but you'll have a written record of exactly what you ordered, and you can safely transmit your credit card information.

You can send us an e-mail with your order details. This may not be a safe way to send your credit card information, so we don't recommend it unless you want us to use a credit card number you've already used, and in that case you wouldn't be sending any personal information. Some people feel more comfortable sending just the first half of their credit card number in one e-mail, and then sending the other half and the expiration date in another message.

Using the shopping cart

To use the shopping cart, you just find an item you're interested in, and fill in the boxes with the quantities that you want. Then you put the item in your cart by clicking on the button that says "Add to cart."

In most cases with multiple items on a page, like threads, you can fill in quantities for all the items on that page and just click the button once. If you click the button and then discover something else you wanted on that page, it's no problem. Just leave the quantities in the boxes you've already filled out, add the quantity for the new item, and click the button again. This will not order the other items twice. You can click the button as often as you like and it will never double up your order. Be careful to click the "add to cart" button once for each page, though. If you're ordering a thread that has colors on several pages, you need to click the button on each page.

If you have ordered one of something, and you want to order 2 instead, just change the number in the box from 1 to 2, and click the button again. You'll be taken to the shopping cart page, where you can verify that you haven't ordered more than you want. You can also change the quantities on that page, if you wish, and then hit the "update cart" button.

A special note about the moda marbles: Ordering these can seem a little confusing the first time, because the moda page is different from all our other fabric pages, due to the fact that you can order 130 different colors on the same page. Although there's an shopping cart icon in each box, you don't have to click on it each time you pick a color. Instead, you can select all the colors on a page, then click on any shopping cart, and all your colors will be added at once.

Ordering fabric

Ordering fabric is a little tricky, because we're trying to fool a computer, which only thinks in decimals, into selling fabric by the quarter yard or eighth yard. We could price the fabric in inches, but then you wouldn't have the convenience of ordering in yards, which is how we think of fabric in the US.

So, we compromise. The minimum yardage order we accept is 1/2 yard, unless you would like a fat quarter, which is priced separately and has its own quantity box for you to fill in. If you don't want a fat quarter, but want some amount of yardage, you have the option of ordering in 10ths of yards, or eighth yards. If you want a half-yard of fabric, you select "1/2" into the eighthts box. You will get one piece of fabric 1/2 yard long. If you enter ".6" into the yards box, you'll get 22" of fabric. If you enter 1.1, you'll get 38.6", or approximately one metre.

This sounds more confusing in the abstract than it really is in practice. Just try it and you shouldn't have any problems. If all else fails and you can't seem to get your order to show on the shopping cart form the way you want, there's an "additional comments" box on the order form, after you hit the "check out" button on the shopping cart page. Just write in whatever it was you couldn't get listed on the form. We'll take it from there.

We also offer fat quarters of all our fabrics except the bargain basement. A fat quarter is a quarter yard of fabric, but instead of a long skinny piece that's 9" wide by 44" long, we cut it 18" X 22". This is a much more practical size piece for most uses, because you don't lose so much of the width due to pre-wash fraying or due to the pattern not being printed exactly on the grain, and of course if you need a piece that's 10" square, there's no way to get that from a regular quarter yard.
